Congress approved an appropriation last week that would double funding to over 19 million dollars for removing culverts and removing deteriorating roads on roads in Oregon and Washington. In passable culverts block salmon and steelhead from accessing thousands of miles of habitat throughout the Northwest and deteriorating forest roads can lead to erosion and landslides which can smother spawning gravels in spawning streams.
